About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer, Manager position at Bala Consulting Engineers involves leading the York Electrical Department, managing select projects, and developing a team capable of executing large-scale projects regionally and nationally. Responsibilities

  • Serve as engineering leader and technical expert, answering questions and resolving issues for engineering staff.
  • Check and confirm the accuracy of work performed and methods used by engineering staff.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for electrical engineering staff.
  • Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.
  • Utilize quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Review workforce projections and determine staffing needs.
  • Drive ownership, accountability, and culture within the company.
  • Interact with partners and executives to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm.
  • Provide marketing and business development support, identifying potential business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, growing the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.

Requirements

  • 10 plus years of experience in electrical/fire alarm design
  • Team supervisory experience
  • York PE license
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a 4-year accredited college or university
  • Strong technical writing and software skills including Revit
  • Sound knowledge of building codes
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multi-discipline engineering environments
  • Familiarity with innovative designs for building systems in various sectors
