About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in the Engineering team of a top Engineering Consulting Firm, focusing on the design and implementation of electrical systems for various building projects. This position involves collaborating with clients and other design team members to ensure that electrical designs meet project specifications and sustainability goals while adhering to industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
  • Perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.
  • Prepare electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings in various market sectors such as retail, office, multifamily residential, healthcare, and institutional.
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems.
  • Ensure design is consistent with the overall vision, and design schedules are maintained; work closely with clients and other design team members, including owners, architects, contractors, and members of other disciplines.
  • Participate in the selection and specification of appropriate equipment for use in building systems.
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
  • Report writing and specification preparation.
  • Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Previous Healthcare experience highly desirable.
  • Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code and the International Building Codes.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • EIT required, PE preferred.
