About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at Medtronic will lead the development of innovative medical electrical equipment, applying extensive technical expertise to solve complex problems. This role involves guiding project teams, designing electronic circuits, and ensuring compliance with safety standards, all while supporting existing products and developing new experimental hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Applies extensive technical expertise towards the solution of complex technical problems.
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
  • Works as a technical consultant to cross-functional project teams to help solve technical problems and provide technical training.
  • Develops and leads others in developing products through all phases of design, testing, and documentation.
  • Designs, simulates, and implements electronic circuits utilizing electrical circuit development tools.
  • Plans, designs, and oversees the testing of devices according to international electrical emission, immunity, and safety standards.
  • Effectively plans and estimates project deliverables, resources, spending, and completion dates.
  • Provides a lead role in the definition of product/design requirements and system architecture development.
  • Develops experimental hardware and software to support experimental protocols and drafts technical papers.
  • Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health, and safety related site rules.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years with an advanced degree.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 technical standards for medical electrical equipment.
  • PCBA Computer Aided Design experience (Altium Designer desired).

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with electrical and electronic devices for the medical industry.
  • Detailed analog and digital design experience.
  • Analog Front End design experience including signal acquisition and conditioning.
  • Experience designing products in a regulated industry.
  • Working knowledge of communication interface design (CAN, Ethernet, RFID).
  • Predictive engineering experience using modeling and simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
  • Experience with DRM (DFSS) methodologies.
