About the position

Curtiss Wright / Arens is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Power Electronics to join our team in Arlington Heights, IL. This position is integral to our group of Power Electronics Engineers, focusing on technology and innovation for high power electronic devices, systems, and control software. The role will primarily concentrate on system-level aspects of Curtiss Wright's Inverter Product line, requiring direct interaction with members of the Curtiss Wright Power Electronics Team and customers to support application and integration requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and production release of power electronic converters and inverters used in eMobility applications, including both on-road and off-road vehicles. In this role, you will serve as a technical customer interface for vehicle integration, which may involve occasional travel. You will also act as a technical liaison for customer-selected motor manufacturers to ensure proper pairing with Curtiss Wright Inverters. Your responsibilities will include defining and implementing requirements based on customer specifications, testing and validating applications, and designing, simulating, and analyzing power electronic systems and drive systems. Additionally, you will be involved in the design and testing of power electronic converters and inverters, evaluating component selection options, and developing controls architecture, interface requirements, and software needs for power conversion devices. You will analyze systems concerning electrical, harmonic, and thermal behavior, develop system test plans, and execute tests on benches and test cells. Your contributions will also extend to controller hardware selection, integration, and compliance testing of customer applications. Furthermore, you will perform root-cause failure analysis and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) related to controls, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to validate, test, and refine the overall system design. Daily interactions with customers, suppliers, and internal team members will be a key aspect of your role, ensuring effective communication and project success.
