About the position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager at GHD, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions. This position is based in our Honolulu, Hawai'i office, where you will lead the delivery of electrical projects under local government and U.S. Federal Sector contracts. Your work will encompass a diverse range of projects, including power transmission and distribution, solar PV, battery storage, telecommunications, and water/wastewater systems. You will be instrumental in advancing GHD's electrical practice across the Pacific, engaging with our Federal Sector and West Pacific business development teams to foster growth and innovation. In this role, you will be responsible for developing annual tactical business plans that align with the overall strategic objectives of the region. You will leverage your strong client knowledge and market insights to create effective client capture plans and initiate relationships with key clients such as NAVFAC, Air Force, GWA, CUC, DPW, and various private entities. Your ability to develop competitive proposals will be crucial in positioning GHD for new opportunities in the Pacific. As the technical lead in electrical engineering, you will manage the delivery of electrical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations for multiple projects. You will also oversee stakeholder expectations and collaborate with cross-discipline teams to ensure project success. Mentoring less experienced team members will be a key aspect of your role, as you share your expertise and guide them through the complexities of electrical engineering projects. Responsibilities

  • Support the development of annual tactical business plans aligned with the overall strategic plan for the region.
  • Develop client capture plans through strong client knowledge, market insights, and strategic planning.
  • Initiate and maintain effective relationships with key clients in the Pacific such as NAVFAC, Air Force, GWA, CUC, DPW, and Hawai'i government.
  • Position for opportunities with clients in the Pacific.
  • Develop competitive proposals with new and existing clients.
  • Act as the technical lead in electrical engineering on a variety of U.S. Federal projects and local government projects.
  • Manage the delivery of electrical reports, plans, specifications, and calculations.
  • Manage external stakeholder expectations and work with cross-discipline teams on other market sector projects.
  • Provide technical QA/QC on multiple projects.
  • Mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an ABET accredited school in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience with exposure to defense, water/wastewater, architectural, industrial, or related projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Hawai'i or ability to obtain Hawai'i electrical license within 6 months.
  • Experience working with the Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC) and other Department of Defense engineering requirements.
  • Experience working with the International Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code.
  • Documented success at all stages of the project life-cycle, including preparing project scope and fee proposals, writing feasibility studies, preparing basis of design reports, consulting, developing detailed design drawings and specifications, developing budgetary construction cost estimates, and providing construction support.
  • Exceptional track record with project execution.
  • Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines.
  • A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness.
  • Able and willing to travel to project job sites and client offices as needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certificate desired but not required.
