About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at Shield AI will play a crucial role in developing advanced AI products for the defense sector. This position involves leading the design and integration of complex electrical systems for the VBAT aircraft, ensuring high-performance computing, sensing, communication, and power systems. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers while driving innovation and efficiency in hardware development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead circuit board designs for the VBAT aircraft and its support equipment.
  • Support the design and integration of complex embedded systems and sensors for VBAT autonomy and AI.
  • Responsible for part selection, schematic capture, simulation, analysis, verification, debugging, and release to production.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, embedded, software, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Conduct and attend cross-functional design reviews.
  • Work closely with CAD engineering for PCB layout using Altium.
  • Interface with customers, contractors, and other third parties regarding design execution.
  • Provide feedback on team work where applicable.
  • Mentor teammates when possible.
  • Help develop automated test solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within hardware development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, and circuit testing.
  • Demonstrated track record of working hard and being a trustworthy teammate.
  • Proven ownership over development processes and features with outstanding outcomes.
  • Experience successfully shipping products and navigating development cycles.

  • Experience working on cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems.
  • Background in fast-paced environments, particularly in startup or R&D settings.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and ability to innovate under pressure.
