About the position

Elbit Systems of America is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Merrimack, NH. This role involves researching, planning, designing, developing, analyzing, and testing a variety of electronic equipment and systems. The successful candidate will work within a small team, tackling diverse challenges and contributing to various programs in a dynamic integrated product team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes.
  • May design and lay out complex items.
  • Consults with higher level engineering personnel to resolve more complex design alternatives.
  • Utilize electronic design tools such as schematic capture.
  • Review and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) objectives.
  • Develop specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, and bill of materials for designs.
  • Prepare sub-system performance specifications.
  • Evaluate and select optimum design alternatives.
  • Determine design feasibility and assure that product designs are competitive.
  • Provide direction to others on appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications.
  • Lead or conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes.
  • Execute test and troubleshooting activities.
  • Evaluate engineering prototypes and translate experimental results into design criteria.
  • Conduct computer simulations to analyze, test, or design products.
  • Develop task inputs to engineering project plans and maintain liaison with other departments.
  • Respond to customer engineering queries and advise on engineering information relevant to product capabilities.
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing.
  • Represent engineering unit in customer or field force contacts, troubleshooting customer application problems.
  • Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion.
  • Assume responsibility for successful completion of systems and sub-systems (Schedule, Performance, Cost).
  • Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs.
  • Assist in assuring the technical soundness of engineering programs.
  • Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems.
  • Collaborate with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and recommend selection of vendors.
  • Prepare engineering specifications for major purchases.
  • Prepare reports of field tests, startups, or installations as required and write technical instructions.
  • Supervise the work of other engineering personnel on a project or ongoing basis.
  • Contribute to process improvements.
  • Develop total cost of ownership models for a complete system, based on predicted reliability, operational usage, and environmental factors.
  • Recommend to Management the selection of appropriate and cost-efficient vendors.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of packaging techniques to meet quality, function, and cost standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the industry (defense/government contractor experience preferred but not required).
  • Experience with one of the following: Mentor Graphics, Cadence, and/or Altium.
  • Ability to travel 10%.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Required experience in high speed digital design, FPGA and Microprocessors, small low power electronics, understanding of power management principles, and analog/mixed signal design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Experience with SI/PI PCB analysis tools such as Mentor Graphics and PC layout tools for the Expedition workflow.
  • LT SPICE experience.
  • Experience in digital interfaces (I2C, USB, MIPI, SPI, DisplayPort), visible light and IR cameras and sensors, and other electro-optical devices.
  • Experience with DoD/MIL specifications, standards, and processes.
