About the position

The position involves developing systems that support platform solutions at Polaris Inc., focusing on both virtual and physical aspects. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, develop technical specifications, and present features during various design review stages. The candidate will also be responsible for creating diagnostic and testing strategies, as well as conducting cost and schedule studies for features.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a system (virtual and/or physical) that supports Platform solutions.
  • Develop system requirements for features based on system development learnings.
  • Determine values for calibratable parameters.
  • Support the development of Component requirement documentation.
  • Present Feature development in Architecture Requirement Reviews (ARR) including simulations or concepts.
  • Develop Control Feature Technical Specifications (CFTS) for features, identifying desired calibratable parameters.
  • Develop schematic in Capital Logic for generic solutions.
  • Present Features in Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) stages.
  • Develop feature diagnostic and testing strategy.
  • Conduct cost and schedule studies for features.
  • Collaborate with Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) System team to develop solution details.
  • Determine how solutions can support multiple applications through configurability and calibration.
  • Develop feature details including block diagrams, hardware requirements, and software definitions.
  • Pass requirements and concept learnings to System Architect.
  • Release Control Feature Technical Specifications for program use.
  • Develop feature validation plan for Hardware and Software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field, and 5 years of work experience in System design and definition or related fields; or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Standards and best practices such as INCOSE or ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using modeling languages such as SysML or Simulink.
  • Experience generating technical documentation such as requirements, specifications, and engineering reports per Systems Engineering best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex Systems using 7-Step-Problem solving or similar methods.
  • Experience working with Cross Functional teams to distill Systems Requirements and verify Functional Behavior in final integration.
  • Application experience of Electro-Mechanical machines such as Motors and Alternators in Automotive or Industrial Systems.
  • Practical experience with Electronics or Power Electronics, Microprocessors, and Classical Control Theory under serial communications protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience chairing or participating in systems engineering peer reviews, architecture reviews, requirements reviews, and design reviews.
