About the position

Geosyntec is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support its engineering design practice, particularly in the water and wastewater treatment sectors. This role involves applying electrical engineering skills to provide services for various industrial and municipal clients. The position is based in multiple locations including Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Denver, and emphasizes technical leadership, project management, and client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Apply experience, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills for the development and review of technical approaches, detailed electrical design, and system controls.
• Responsible for scoping, scheduling, and budgeting requirements in the design of process engineering projects including estimating labor, material, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and client requirements.
• Perform specific technical work functions as required by project requirements including site visits, conceptual and detailed designs, and technical analysis and review.
• Review and prepare technical documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals.
• Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties.
• Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing.
• Review and manage written document production.
• Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electrical engineering tasks.
• Direct multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Task and project-level responsibility for scoping, performing, managing and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments.
• Support lead generation, business development, staff development, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in electrical engineering (required).
• Professional registration (P.E.) (required).
• At least 8 years of experience in electrical engineering field with a focus on the design phase for water and wastewater engineering projects (required).
• Strong background with industrial equipment, electrical motors and drives, power distribution, building service and wiring, and process controls/automation (required).
• Experience in the development and approval of single line diagrams and network diagrams (required).
• Demonstrated working knowledge with applicable codes (i.e. NEC, NFPA) and Federal and State regulations (required).
• Experience with managing multi-disciplinary project teams (required).
• Excellent leadership and detail-orientation skills (required).
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed (required).
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Nice-to-haves

• Advanced degree in electrical engineering (preferred).
• Experience with process instrumentation and controls systems (preferred).
• Experience with modeling and design tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation (preferred).
