About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer position at Sargent & Lundy involves working in a project team environment focused on the detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substation projects. The role includes project conceptualization, work planning, and execution, with responsibilities that encompass troubleshooting and solving various electrical engineering issues. The engineer will prepare technical reports and engage in peer-learning through knowledge sharing with experienced colleagues. This position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in project conceptualization and work planning for high voltage substation projects.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a variety of electrical engineering issues.
  • Prepare technical reports that meet client requirements and S&L formats.
  • Engage in peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other engineers.
  • Track project information such as schedules and expenditures against budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the design of Medium Voltage Power Systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
  • Experience in tracking project information and preparing status reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 or more years of experience in the design of substations 138kV and above.
  • Ability to prepare substation grounding calculations and battery & charger sizing calculations.
  • Experience with physical layout and protection & controls.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards related to substation design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • AutoCAD experience.
