About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at HDR, Inc. will lead the Building Engineering Services team in the Nebraska/Iowa market, focusing on designing electrical systems for a diverse range of clients including healthcare, water/wastewater, and commercial sectors. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide detailed designs and coordination of facilities with team members
  • Act as the electrical lead on many projects
  • Prepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platforms
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
  • Edit and prepare design specifications
  • Review fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documents
  • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reports
  • Select equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales reps
  • Track and meet design budgets
  • Perform load calculations
  • Attend and lead design meetings with other team members
  • Provide construction administration service throughout all phases of construction
  • Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering (Electrical emphasis) or related field
  • PE license
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in designing lighting and electrical systems for various types of buildings
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated and organized
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work both independently and with a project team
  • Some travel will be required
  • Commitment to employee-owned culture

  • BIM/Revit experience
