About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer leads custom electrical design work for chiller solutions products. This position will be responsible for lead designer as well as coach for junior engineers and has responsibilities for creating product technical solutions and delivering design details on schedule to manufacturing teams. This position is onsite and based at our San Antonio, TX, plant for our large tonnage Chiller products and solutions. Interested candidates must be commuting distance, or open for relocation. In this role, the Senior Electrical Engineer investigates and analyzes product design proposals on electrical power panels, control panels, variable speed drives, and wire harnesses in accordance with UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes, then recommends solutions. The engineer must be proficient in electrical design and able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product. They will also be responsible for preparing, checking, and coordinating the release of documentation to support designs. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical direction to application engineers, designers, factory operations, product marketing, and product technical service, ensuring the on-time completion of projects. Continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment are essential, as is adherence to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards. The engineer will serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electrical / Power Electronics issues at the facility and will lead, teach, and coach others in interpreting and understanding engineering drawings, including electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead custom electrical design work for chiller solutions products.
  • Act as the lead designer and coach for junior engineers.
  • Create product technical solutions and deliver design details on schedule to manufacturing teams.
  • Investigate and analyze product design proposals on electrical power panels, control panels, variable speed drives, and wire harnesses in accordance with UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
  • Recommend solutions based on analysis of product design proposals.
  • Prepare, check, and coordinate the release of documentation to support designs.
  • Provide technical direction to application engineers, designers, factory operations, product marketing, and product technical service.
  • Ensure on-time completion of projects.
  • Continuously increase expertise on all aspects of chiller electrical design, theory, construction, operation, and applications.
  • Select the most suitable electrical components for designs.
  • Apply regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes in designs.
  • Strive for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.
  • Adhere to the Company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
  • Serve as primary SME for Electrical / Power Electronics issues at the facility.
  • Lead, teach, and coach others in interpreting and understanding engineering drawings including electrical schematics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years applicable experience with UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
  • Skilled in analyzing electrical loads, designing power and control circuitry, reviewing control logic, and practicing mathematical theories and concepts.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical components including motors, inverter drives, soft starters, contactors, and circuit breakers.
  • Strong electrical aptitude.
