About the position

The position is for a senior-level Electrical Engineer at RVE, an established engineering firm in Durham, North Carolina. The role involves leading the electrical department and managing electrical designs for various projects, including public, institutional, educational, commercial, and industrial facilities. The engineer will be responsible for applying advanced electrical engineering knowledge, directing a team, and ensuring projects are completed from inception to completion while adhering to safety and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the electrical department to support MEP and other projects
• Prepare electrical designs for institutional, office, educational, retail, healthcare, industrial and other similar projects
• Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, fire alarm and equipment specifications and selections
• Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions
• Direct a team of engineers, designers and support personnel
• Interact with all engineering disciplines, construction project managers, and clients
• Work within company policy and OSHA Safety rules
• Demonstrate the ability to take projects from inception to completion
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed

Requirements

• Experience as a project lead on multi-discipline engineering design projects
• Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering and design
• Familiarity with applicable codes for building, energy, and construction standards
• Formal experience in electrical system design for buildings
• Experience with common Engineering Design software
• Experience with Lighting Design and Photometric Software
• Experience with latest versions of AutoCAD
• Ability to prepare written specifications, letters, reports and related contract documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) License

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SKM
• Familiarity with Revit
