About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at Acutronic will lead New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, overseeing the design and development of advanced motor controls and electromechanical control systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and project management skills, ensuring successful project execution from proposal to production support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed electrical design and development for Acutronic product lines, including Actuation Systems, Turbo Generators, Power Generation, Conversion, and Distribution, and Micro-thrust Turbines.
  • Support proposal efforts in aerospace, including assessing customer requirements, creating requirements compliance matrix, generating engineering models with analysis, estimating costs, and developing project schedules.
  • Perform hands-on bring-up, integration, and troubleshooting of embedded control and power generation systems.
  • Communicate technical details and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Develop system performance models using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
  • Allocate system requirements to components and subsystems.
  • Design electronic hardware from selection to layout, including motor control, power electronics, and sensor integration.
  • Perform validation and verification of product requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, required.
  • At least eight years of experience designing and developing motor controls and electromechanical control systems.
  • Experience with power conditioning and distribution systems (20+kW).
  • Experience with systems that have common aerospace communication interfaces (RS-485/RS-422, CAN, etc.).
  • Experience with real-time systems.
  • Experience navigating firmware in embedded electronic systems.
  • Experience with failure investigation and formal RCCA activities.
  • Experience with safety and reliability assessment (MTBF/FTA, etc.).
  • Familiarity with aerospace configuration management and control.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Prior experience working in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment.
