About the position

The Electrical Engineer III is a key member of the Life Fitness Console Team, responsible for developing multimedia solutions for both consumer and commercial fitness equipment. This role involves leading the design and implementation of entertainment systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring product reliability through rigorous testing and validation processes. The position is hybrid, requiring in-office collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while allowing remote work on Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Work with new product teams and external design partners to develop multimedia solutions including TV tuners and IPTV systems for fitness equipment.
  • Define and specify peripheral components such as WiFi, RFID, Bluetooth, and NFC devices.
  • Direct and lead in electronic component selection and implementation.
  • Oversee PCB layout, floor planning, component placement, and design for EMC.
  • Provide guidance during circuit analyses to ensure products meet specified requirements.
  • Validate system designs to agreed specifications.
  • Create detailed written test and evaluation procedures for medium complexity electronic subsystems and components.
  • Collaborate with Reliability and Test teams to specify hardware and software requirements for new product validation.
  • Lead engineering analysis, evaluation, and debugging related to new designs.
  • Support cross-functional teams for field and warranty-related issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in product development.
  • Experience with circuit design, schematic entry, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with common peripheral interfaces such as USB, I2C, SPI, and ethernet.
  • Knowledge of LCD display technologies and interfaces including LVDS, HDMI, and MIPI.
  • Experience with common wireless technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC.
  • Proficiency in using standard electronic instruments and measurement tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience specifying filters and magnetic components for EMI suppression.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multimedia solutions such as Broadcast TV and IPTV.
  • Experience certifying products to regulatory requirements (FCC, EN, KC, Anatel).
  • Experience qualifying wireless solutions with governing bodies like WiFi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with Android/Linux Operating Systems and/or Embedded Software Development is a plus.
  • People manager experience is a plus.
