About the position

The Senior Electrical Engineer at HDR, Inc. plays a pivotal role in the Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group, focusing on the design and support of various facilities projects, including Water and Wastewater Treatment, Technology and Data Centers, Solid Waste, Transportation, and Industrial projects. This position involves leading electrical design efforts, managing project teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, manage and supervise projects, establishing client briefs, technical requirements, and scope of works.
  • Deliver reports, specifications, and drawings to meet project requirements within agreed deadlines.
  • Agree on the level of service and project design duties with the Section Lead and Project Manager.
  • Lead the Electrical team in projects, including design, supervision, and monitoring of engineering resources.
  • Carry out concept and detailed designs through all stages, ensuring compliance with design briefs and deadlines.
  • Communicate with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant and of consistent quality.
  • Monitor and control project progress and design variations.
  • Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Assist the Section Manager in identifying and implementing personnel training requirements.
  • Implement QA/QC systems and procedures on all projects.
  • Ensure all designs conform to applicable health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in the employee-owned culture.

  • Competency in Bluebeam, MS Word, Excel, Outlook & Power Point.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
