About the position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at HDR Architecture Inc, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the work of Electrical Engineers within a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire development of various projects. Your responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining client relations, participating in marketing, design, and production meetings specifically related to electrical systems. You will assume the role of electrical lead on numerous projects, ensuring that all electrical designs meet the necessary standards and codes. You will also be involved in conducting schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites, collaborating closely with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Your ability to coordinate workload throughout the project development will be crucial in completing documents on schedule. Additionally, you will track the financial aspects of projects, adjusting work efforts as necessary to meet agreed-upon schedules. In this role, you will direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff members. Your expertise will be essential in performing reviews with various governing agencies to ensure code compliance and in conducting project reviews with corporate management as needed. This position requires a proactive approach and a commitment to being an active participant in HDR's employee-owned culture, contributing to the collaborative environment that drives our success.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems
  • Assume the electrical lead on many projects
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
  • Track the financial aspects of projects and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure completion within the agreed-upon schedule
  • Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed
  • Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
