About the position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our renewables team. This position is pivotal in managing the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale solar projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as the primary electrical contact for clients, ensuring that the electrical design budget for projects is adhered to and that all project deliverables are met on time. This role is open in multiple locations including Minneapolis, Denver, Plano, Madison, and Charlotte, providing flexibility for the right candidate. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying the incorporation of contractual electrical engineering scope into design and coordinating change orders with project managers. You will assist project managers in responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) by preparing proposal scope and fees for the electrical engineering aspect of projects. Additionally, you will coordinate with other project disciplines, including civil engineers, geotechnical/structural engineers, and surveyors, to ensure a cohesive approach to project execution. Your responsibilities will also include scheduling and planning necessary resources to support projects on a weekly basis, leading the electrical engineering design, and creating construction documents. You will oversee the project electrical team, ensuring that staff perform electrical calculations and studies accurately. Furthermore, you will coordinate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement officers, and perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of design work for which you are the lead electrical engineer. Maintaining awareness of currently available equipment and industry best practices is crucial, as is collaborating with and supporting electrical engineering teams in other offices as project workloads dictate. You will also support the construction of projects by responding to contractor and owner requests, including Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittal reviews. Lastly, you will have the opportunity to supervise, train, and mentor graduate engineers, staff engineers, and design technicians, fostering a culture of growth and development within the team.
