We reward innovation and hard work while fostering a culture of sustainability. We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex projects, with limited support required from senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. You will work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Your primary responsibilities will include project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. You will also be responsible for working within the project's monetary budget, assisting in training and mentoring efforts, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI).
  • Advanced proficiency in Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others.
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.
