About the position

Merrick & Company is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to join their Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing department. This role involves leading projects, developing electrical design documents, and ensuring compliance with technical codes and standards. The position supports various market sectors, including industrial food & beverage, refining, power, and advanced biofuels. The role offers a hybrid work schedule and relocation assistance may be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project lead on major projects and/or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
  • Develop electrical design documents and drawings.
  • Analyze and approve the work of others and monitor the work performed by the team.
  • Conceptual and detailed design of low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, motor control systems, PLC/PAC, HMI's process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Interact with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Lead project meetings and make presentations.
  • Perform typical electrical calculations including voltage drop, short circuit, coordination studies, arc flash, relay settings, conduit fill, lighting, and grounding.
  • Develop specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, and MCCs.
  • Travel to client project sites to support field walk downs and as-built efforts.
  • Monitor allocated resources to ensure that the work performed is within project estimates.
  • Work with Design/Engineering Managers to ensure that project schedules are met and complete documents are provided for each project.

Requirements

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in power, energy, oil and gas or other industrial process industries.
  • Experience developing one-line drawings, control schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical equipment specifications, power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules, etc.
  • Working knowledge of technical Codes and Standards: NEC, IEEE, NFPA, IEC, etc.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, REVIT or other design software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited college is required.
  • PE License required.
  • Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
