About the position

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a focus on SCADA systems to join their team. This role involves hands-on engineering tasks, project oversight, and mentoring junior staff. The position is integral to delivering exceptional engineering outcomes in various sectors, including energy and transportation, while promoting sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Generate communication block diagrams and SCADA design drawings.
  • Maintain a project points list throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Run weekly project SCADA meetings.
  • Program HMI/RTUs, network switches, substation computers, and firewalls.
  • Perform project SCADA oversight with a focus on client interaction and SCADA checkout.
  • Participate in and/or lead estimating and scheduling SCADA work for engineering bids/proposals.
  • Mentor junior staff regarding SCADA office and site activities.
  • Lead the unit SCADA team, including weekly meetings and work distribution.
  • Perform complex automation logic activities and NERC/CIP security/firewall activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required; Master's degree is a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience as an electrical engineer in protection and control and/or SCADA.
  • At least 5 years of project background experience in substation SCADA engineering and commissioning.
  • Experience in renewable project SCADA engineering and commissioning, including testing and coordination with owners, utilities, and offtakers.
  • HMI development experience.
  • RTAC program development experience.
  • Points list generation and ownership responsibilities.
  • Relay and/or RTAC automation programming experience.
  • Familiarity with software packages such as SEL acSELerator RTAC, acSELerator Architect, acSELerator Diagram Builder, and Ignition (preferred).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • PE-Professional Engineer registration is preferred but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Ignition software for HMI development.
  • Familiarity with NERC/CIP security standards.
