This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant electrical systems. You will work on interesting and challenging projects that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems within nuclear power plants, contributing to the safety and performance of these critical infrastructures. As part of your responsibilities, you will prepare and review engineering design change packages aimed at installing, replacing, or upgrading existing plant equipment. This is essential for ensuring long-term equipment reliability. You will also be tasked with preparing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations that support these design change packages. This includes conducting AC and DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity calculations, voltage drop assessments, breaker coordination, motor starting evaluations, and protective relay settings. In addition, you will prepare and review equipment procurement specifications and participate in the bid review evaluation process for potential equipment vendors. This involves supporting vendor requests for additional information, developing responses to vendor questions, and maintaining a tracking mechanism for these inquiries. You will also prepare and review scoping documents for conceptual designs, which includes conducting constructability reviews. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will interface with project team members from various engineering and design disciplines, including Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C). You will also interface with clients to support project implementation and work closely with vendors to perform document reviews and provide written comments. Attending client meetings and conducting site field walkdowns will be part of your duties to validate project scope and ensure client satisfaction. Travel is a component of this position, as you will need to visit client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. Supporting site installation activities during project implementation is also part of your responsibilities. You will assist the project manager to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. This includes initiating and conveying the scope of work to project team members, defining deliverables, reviewing status, tracking progress, and maintaining communication with clients. Routine status meetings, submitting progress reports, tracking and resolving open items, and coordinating the completion of project deliverables are essential tasks that you will undertake.
