At Mott MacDonald, we are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Physical Team in Denver, Colorado. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing our offerings to both existing and new clients, ensuring that we remain the consultant of choice for a wide range of power clients. In this role, you will work closely with experienced staff to complete physical engineering designs, generating professional plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits, and reports. You will be responsible for ensuring that designs comply with current codes and standards, performing technical calculations under supervision, and utilizing AutoCAD to create general arrangements and one-line diagrams. Collaboration with other disciplines, including structural and civil design teams, is essential to ensure an integrated design approach. You will also be tasked with managing project schedules and budgets, providing guidance on project timelines, and ensuring that all policies and procedures are respected during the preparation of drawings. We are looking for a team player who excels in communication, both orally and in writing, and who can effectively liaise with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, take pride in their work, and possess the ability to multitask across various projects in a fast-paced environment. With 3-8 years of experience in substation physical engineering, you will bring expertise in using tools such as CDEGS and WinIGS for grounding studies, CYMCAP for cable ampacity calculations, and knowledge of lightning protection design per IEEE standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD is also required to succeed in this role.
