This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant electrical systems. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering design change packages to install, replace, or upgrade existing plant equipment, ensuring long-term equipment reliability. This includes preparing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations in support of design change packages, such as AC and DC power studies, short circuit analysis, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, and protective relay settings. Additionally, you will prepare and review equipment procurement specifications and participate in the bid review evaluation process for potential equipment vendors. This involves supporting vendor requests for additional information, developing responses to vendor questions, and maintaining a tracking mechanism for questions and responses. You will also prepare and review scoping documents for conceptual designs, including constructability reviews, and interface with project team members from other engineering and design disciplines such as Mechanical, Structural, Civil, and I&C. Engaging with the client in support of the project is crucial, as is interfacing with vendors to perform document reviews and provide written comments. Attendance at client meetings and site field walkdowns will be necessary to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction. The role requires travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs. You will support site installation activities during project implementation and assist the S&L project manager to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget. You will be responsible for the overall technical, financial, and administrative performance of the engineering scope by initiating and conveying the scope of work to project team members, defining deliverables (such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and design changes), reviewing status and tracking progress of team members to maintain project scope and budget, and keeping the client informed through routine status meetings, submitting progress reports, tracking and resolving open items and emergent project issues, and coordinating the completion of project deliverables. This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work three days per week.
