About the position

BRUNS-PAK is seeking experienced and highly skilled Senior Electrical or Mechanical Engineers specializing in the design of systems for Data Centers and Mission Critical Facilities. The ideal candidates should possess a solid background in designing mission-critical electrical or mechanical systems, with an emphasis on reliability, redundancy, and efficiency. This position is a contract role based on-site in Edison, NJ, and requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week. The engineers will be responsible for designing and developing electrical or mechanical systems for Data Center Facilities, ensuring that all designs meet the stringent reliability and efficiency requirements typical of mission-critical environments. The role involves utilizing AutoCAD and potentially Revit for effective design and documentation. Engineers will apply their diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a variety of assignments in related fields. They will be expected to make informed and independent decisions regarding engineering methods and techniques, while also consulting with supervisors on critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters as needed. Additionally, the engineers will develop test procedures and provide support during the commissioning of electrical or mechanical equipment, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet the required specifications. Candidates should be prepared to provide engineering solutions that incorporate life cycle cost analysis and energy efficiency considerations. They will also evaluate existing facilities and systems in relation to as-built conditions that affect the design, ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical or mechanical systems for Data Center Facilities, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance with mission-critical requirements.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and potentially Revit for effective design and documentation.
  • Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a variety of assignments in related fields.
  • Make informed and independent decisions regarding engineering methods and techniques.
  • Consult with supervisors on critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters, seeking guidance as needed.
  • Develop test procedures and provide support during the commissioning of electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • Provide engineering solutions that incorporate life cycle cost analysis and energy efficiency considerations.
  • Evaluate existing facilities and systems respective to the as-built conditions which affect the design.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in designing electrical or mechanical systems for Data Center Facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mission-critical equipment, including Generators, Switchgear, UPS Systems, transformers, PDUs (for Electrical Engineers), or Cooling Towers, Chillers, Glycol Systems, Air Cooled Systems, In Row Cooling/Rear Door Heat Exchange (for Mechanical Engineers).
  • Ability to integrate reliability and redundancy (Electrical) or reliability and efficiency (Mechanical) into system designs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles to diverse assignments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical solutions to diverse audiences both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with advanced techniques and the ability to modify and extend theories, precepts, and practices in the field.
  • Capability to develop test procedures and support the commissioning of electrical or mechanical systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Revit design is a plus.
