About the position

The Senior Electrical R&D Engineer at Boston Scientific will play a crucial role in the design, development, and testing of low-power, high-reliability electronics for active medical capital equipment. This position involves working within a diverse and high-performing team to create innovative medical devices that significantly impact patient care. The engineer will be responsible for leading design efforts, solving complex engineering problems, and collaborating with various departments to ensure project success, all while maintaining a commitment to patient safety and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, debugs, modifies, and tests electrical circuits and systems using current tools and technologies.
  • Solves engineering problems by analyzing situations and recommending corrective or alternative actions.
  • Investigates, researches, and selects electronic circuits, components, tools, and equipment using best practices.
  • Documents electrical development by writing procedures, reports, memos, and change requests.
  • Tracks electrical development effort by creating and maintaining records in Jira and other approved tracking management tools.
  • Provides clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates to facilitate decision-making.
  • Develops novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSC's Intellectual Property portfolio.
  • Works cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing on complex projects.
  • Trains and/or provides work direction to technicians and other engineers.
  • Demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all documented quality processes.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 6+ years of work experience in electrical engineering
  • Experience utilizing EMI/EMC best practices for board-level circuit design using Altium or similar packages
  • Solid lab experience with debugging, fixtures, and test equipment
  • Expertise in circuit design analysis techniques and simulation tools such as LTSpice

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with medical device electronics and systems
  • Experience with communication protocols and transceiver module integration
  • Experience using electrical engineering analysis techniques to map high-level requirements into circuit specifications
  • Familiarity with signal processing concepts, experience with LabView and/or Matlab
  • Experience using Python for automation of simulation and data analysis
  • Experience with firmware debugging, digital logic, and FPGA development
  • Ability to solve complex problems with root cause analysis
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines.
