About the position

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Medtronic, you will play a crucial role in the Engineering Services - Test Systems Engineering team, focusing on the development and release of test systems for batteries used in implantable medical devices. This position emphasizes innovation in testing technologies and requires collaboration across functional teams to enhance manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and testing of manual and automated test systems for batteries and battery components.
  • Utilize medical industry documentation processes to execute the qualification and installation of test equipment.
  • Produce thorough documentation to support quality and compliance at Medtronic.
  • Support the development of batteries and associated components regarding testability.
  • Evaluate and develop custom electrical fixture designs to meet test specifications.
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art technologies to enhance test equipment features and optimize manufacturing throughput.
  • Implement Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) principles within the functional area.
  • Support Manufacturing in troubleshooting operations involving medical devices through manufacturing and testing.
  • Provide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Product Engineering, Quality, Reliability, and Manufacturing.
  • Lead, mentor, and review designs of less experienced engineers to ensure robustness.
  • Serve as an organizational spokesman on advanced test equipment projects and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of product development, test engineering, or engineering experience OR an Advanced Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong testing/manufacturing background.
  • Ability to work across functional teams and promote long-lasting solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • National Instruments LabView Certification (Architect Level Preferred).
  • 8 or more years in medical device design, ultra-low power battery-operated systems, or test fixture design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical device test systems.
  • Strong knowledge of schematic design and component-level troubleshooting.
