About the position

The Senior Electrical Test Engineer position at International's Advanced Technical Center in Elmendorf, TX, focuses on validating electrical and electronic systems for commercial trucks and school buses. This role involves creating validation test procedures, performing vehicle validation testing, and providing technical support to the Product Development team. The engineer will work on both diesel and electric vehicles, including those equipped with autonomous driver assist systems, ensuring that new vehicle designs meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and analytical support to the Product Development team.
  • Evaluate new vehicle designs against customer needs and design requirements.
  • Review design information and issue feedback documents to systems engineers.
  • Review DVP with manager and systems team, incorporating feedback before testing.
  • Store test plans and results in the WRTS system and report preparation progress.
  • Create test harnesses and instrument vehicles for testing.
  • Prepare test procedures based on written requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair wiring harness defects.
  • Perform functional buck and vehicle-level validation as per DVP.
  • Troubleshoot root causes for failures of electric circuits or software.
  • Report test failures or anomalies during validation testing.
  • Submit failure reports to appropriate engineers using test data acquisition software.
  • Update WRTS status within 24 hours of completing validation tests.
  • Produce deliverables such as OK to Test forms, validation reports, and test data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science with at least 2 years of experience in product design/development or computer science experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Science.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of SAE J1939 Control Area Network (CAN).
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and measurement equipment such as HBM SOMAT, Dewsoft, and/or National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • Experience using Cummins InSite/CalTerm tools for ECM and ACM calibrations.
  • Experience with Eaton Roadranger service tools for TCM calibrations.
  • Experience with Allison service tools for TCM calibrations.
  • Experience with Bendix Acom service tool.
  • Ability to use Oscilloscope, PicoScope, Digital Voltmeter, and current probes for measurements.
  • Development of testing process improvements.
