About the position

The Senior Electrical Validation Engineer will be part of the Systems Engineering Validation team, focusing on critical field-testing efforts to ensure compliance with design and certification standards for electrical systems, particularly in the renewable energy sector. This role involves leading grid testing activities, developing testing protocols, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and system improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage grid testing activities such as power quality assessment, grid fault ride-through testing, and other electrical compliance activities for wind turbines.
  • Ensure test execution aligns with regional and international grid codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NERC, ERCOT).
  • Develop, implement, and refine testing protocols and methodologies for grid integration and high voltage systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including utility companies, grid operators, customers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure grid compatibility and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze test data, identify potential issues, and provide technical recommendations for system improvements or corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering disciplines from an accredited university/college.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical testing, electrical system design, or commissioning, preferably in the renewable energy sector, power plants, or grid operations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to lead field testing efforts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrate understanding of high voltage (HV) and/or medium voltage (MV) equipment testing (such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cables).
  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and grid codes for electrical testing and compliance.
  • Ability to interpret test data using relevant software tools and methodologies.
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering or similar field of study.
  • Proficiency in measurement data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and instrumentation for grid testing, such as power analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
  • High Voltage Safety Certification: Training in HV safety protocols, switching operations, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • GWO (Global Wind Organization) Certifications: If applicable to wind energy projects, including working at heights, manual handling, and fire awareness.

Benefits

  • Great work environment
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Challenging careers
  • Competitive compensation
  • Relocation assistance
