The Electro-Mechanical Engineer at Teradyne will play a crucial role in the assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical systems utilized in testing equipment. This position demands a hands-on individual who possesses a robust understanding of both electrical and mechanical systems, coupled with a meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the design and fabrication of test fixtures that support various development and testing processes. Collaboration with engineers and other technicians is essential to ensure that all equipment operates optimally and adheres to the highest performance standards. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for assembling, installing, and calibrating a variety of electro-mechanical components and systems, which include wiring, motors, sensors, and mechanical assemblies. The design of sheet metal enclosures, structural weldments, power distribution systems, and coolant distribution systems will also be part of the responsibilities. The engineer must ensure that all systems are integrated and aligned according to engineering specifications, and will work closely with engineering teams to create custom test fixtures tailored to specific testing requirements. Utilizing CAD software, the engineer will create detailed designs and collaborate with fabrication teams to build prototypes. Continuous evaluation and refinement of test fixtures will be necessary to ensure they meet performance criteria and are user-friendly for testing procedures. Routine maintenance of electro-mechanical systems will be performed to guarantee optimal operation, alongside diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues to implement effective solutions that minimize downtime. Functional tests on assembled systems and custom fixtures will be conducted to verify performance and identify any defects or issues. The engineer will also collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that all products and test fixtures comply with industry and company standards. Maintaining detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and modifications performed on equipment and test fixtures is essential, as is updating and maintaining technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and fixture design files. The engineer will provide feedback on system performance and fixture design to engineers and offer technical support and training to other team members and end-users as needed.
