About the position

The Senior Electronic Design Engineer at Trystar is a pivotal role responsible for transforming customer and market needs into innovative control solutions. This position encompasses the entire product design process, from research and development to production, and requires expertise in electronic hardware, software, PCB, and mechanical design. The engineer will lead efforts to enhance team culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Architect new design concepts and solutions.
  • Design electronic power supply, control, embedded, digital, and analog circuitry.
  • Design printed circuit boards and assemblies.
  • Design embedded firmware and software.
  • Create BOMs and select components.
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot prototype products.
  • Define and conduct new product qualification testing.
  • Design and maintain 2D and 3D CAD Drawings.
  • Design and implement production automation systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement through root cause failure analysis.
  • Develop deep product expertise and serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers.
  • Develop market environment expertise and participate in new product definition and NPD planning.
  • Provide technical leadership, review, and guidance within the engineering team and beyond.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of design experience in relevant engineering roles.
  • Proven track record of achieving results in electronic and software design and development.
  • Printed circuit board design and component selection experience.
  • Analog, digital, and embedded circuit testing and troubleshooting experience, including hands-on debugging in lab environments.
  • Proficient with soldering and laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes and DMMs.
  • Self-starting mentality with demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work fluidly both within a team and individually.
  • Enthusiastic to develop new skills and take on a diverse set of responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industrial automation and control or power conversion sector preferred.
  • Exposure to UL, CSA, and CE standards, compliance, and certification is a plus.
  • Direct experience in an electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Participation in project scoping, planning, and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to succeed in fast-paced and agile work environment.
  • Proficient with common Microsoft Office programs, including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook & MS Teams.
  • Experience working with customers in a technical support role.
