About the position

The Senior Electronic Hardware Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, designing, testing, maintaining, and supporting consumer and industrial electronic equipment. This role involves analyzing data for product feasibility, selecting electronic components, preparing schematics and PCB layouts, and ensuring that products meet electrical design goals through rigorous testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes data to determine feasibility of product proposals.
  • Researches and selects electronic components with performance, manufacturability, and product cost goals in mind.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of schematics and PCB layout.
  • Generates and maintains internal and customer-facing engineering documentation.
  • Uses simulation tools to demonstrate design intent.
  • Directs engineering personnel in the design, fabrication, and testing of prototype models.
  • Plans and develops experimental test programs.
  • Uses laboratory test equipment, such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, to ensure that products meet their electrical design goals.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
  • Selects RF components to optimize matching and tuning performance.
  • Produces/maintains formal documentation for the manufacture of designed products.
  • Produces/maintains formal customer-facing documentation.
  • Works closely with manufacturing to ensure a smooth design handoff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 5-7 years of industry experience.
  • Expertise in developing embedded circuits from schematic capture through critical layout (Altium preferred).
  • Solid broad-based knowledge of analog, digital, and RF circuits.
  • Expertise in product lifecycle management, ERP, and document control.
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred).
  • Knowledge of the PCBA fabrication and assembly process.
  • Experience with battery or other low power wireless devices.
  • Experience designing modern analog and digital electronics.
  • Excellent design and manufacturing documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of EMI mitigation techniques and designing for regulatory compliance (FCC, CE, UL, ATEX).
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with i2c, SPI, USB, DDR, Flash, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Practice with RF component integration and/or antenna design/analysis is preferred.
