About the position

We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our client in a full-time capacity in Marlborough, MA. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, documenting, and verifying Electronic Systems used in medical laser technology. This position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to work on innovative medical products that have a significant impact on patient care. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electronic system development, from initial design through to testing and validation, ensuring that all products meet the stringent requirements of the medical device industry. As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will design, implement, and test both analog and digital printed circuit boards (PCBs) for new medical products while also enhancing existing features. You will lead advanced projects and system development, collaborating closely with embedded firmware designs and conducting thorough system-level testing. Documentation is a key aspect of this role; you will be required to document and validate hardware designs according to medical device development standards, which include requirements, design specifications, risk analysis, and verification protocols. Engagement with cross-functional teams is essential, as you will work alongside research and development (R&D), technical support, field service, and manufacturing teams to ensure compliance with medical device regulations. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide fellow engineers, helping them achieve project goals and objectives while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test analog/digital PCBs for new medical products and enhance existing features.
  • Lead advanced projects and system development.
  • Collaborate with embedded firmware designs and conduct system-level testing.
  • Document and validate hardware designs according to medical device development standards (including requirements, design specifications, risk analysis, and verification protocols).
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including R&D, technical support, field service, and manufacturing.
  • Ensure compliance with medical device regulations.
  • Mentor and guide fellow engineers based on project goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in hardware development.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 compliant medical systems development (minimum 2 years).
  • Proficiency in Schematic Capture and PCB layout using Orcad and/or Altium.
  • Experience in analog/digital circuit design, including FPGAs.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth).
  • Experience with medical design documentation (requirements, risk analysis, verification protocols).
  • Ability to transfer designs to manufacturing and develop test fixtures.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptive environment.
