About the position

The Senior Electronics Design Engineer - Avionics at GE Aerospace is responsible for architecting and developing complex avionics hardware systems, focusing on both digital and analog components. This role combines leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring expertise in current technology trends, semiconductor processors, and FPGA components. The engineer will mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and influence hardware architectures while participating in proposals and trade studies.

Responsibilities

  • Architect moderately complex avionic computer hardware systems that include both digital and analog components.
  • Maintain specialized knowledge in semiconductor processors, System-on-Chip, and FPGA component architectures.
  • Participate in hardware design architectural trade studies, reviews, and proposals.
  • Make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in hardware design, manufacturing, or technology.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 8+ years of professional experience in design.
  • Proven history of architecting complex digital hardware.
  • Knowledge of board level digital design process from schematic capture to verification.
  • Experience designing with Gigahertz microprocessors, FPGA, CPLD, DDR4 memory, and flash memory.
  • Experience in High Density Interconnect (HDI) technologies for IPC Class 3 board.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 15+ years of professional experience in digital design.
  • Experience designing with CAN, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, ARINC 664, TSN.
  • Familiarity with Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise and Hyperlinx PI/SI.
