About the position

Draper is seeking a Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, MA. As an independent, nonprofit research and development company, we tackle significant national challenges, delivering successful and usable solutions across various fields, including military defense, space exploration, and biomedical engineering. Our multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists work collaboratively in an environment that fosters innovation and the cross-fertilization of ideas. The Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the manufacturing of electrical printed circuit boards (PCBs), analog and digital circuits, electronic equipment, sensors, motors, radar, and navigation systems. This position requires a deep understanding of electronic design and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to translate project and system requirements into well-defined hardware architectures. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for developing the architecture, designing circuits, performing simulations, conducting physical layout, and verifying and testing designs. The engineer will engage with other engineers and partners to create reliable and cost-effective solutions for products, driving the completion of projects on schedule while innovatively solving issues. The position also involves building and testing prototypes, debugging, and preparing documentation for manufacturing and support. The Senior Electronics Hardware Design Engineer will independently perform complex electronic architectures and designs, provide insights based on simulation results, and identify program/system-level technical risks while developing and executing mitigation strategies. Additionally, the engineer will mentor less experienced engineers, providing constructive feedback and guidance throughout the engineering process.

Responsibilities
