About the position

As a Senior Embedded Ops Engineer, you'll be an important contributor to Proscia's platform, crafting a product that empowers pathologists to diagnose patients more accurately and more efficiently. Our product, a platform for high-resolution virtual microscopy images, will challenge you and provide growth potential you won't see anywhere else. In this role, you'll work closely with development and technical operations teams to ensure our infrastructure, pipelines, and monitoring solutions are optimized for high-performance, data-intensive workflows. You will play a crucial role in bridging operations expertise with our development processes, enabling efficient and reliable solutions in this dynamic field.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the embedded operations advocate and expert within Engineering teams working on applications supporting digital pathology and AI workflows.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain container orchestration platforms using Kubernetes and Helm charts, ensuring scalability for large data sets and compute-intensive applications.
  • Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to support iterative development and testing.
  • Optimize infrastructure to handle the storage and processing of large files and high-throughput AI workloads.
  • Build on existing tooling to further implement application observability through metrics, traces and improve logging.
  • Leverage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools to assist Engineering with implementation of required infrastructure resources.
  • Collaborate with development teams to streamline the deployment of AI models and data pipelines in production.
  • Manage content in private artifact repositories to ensure secure and efficient artifact distribution.
  • Identify and improve application recovery and resiliency.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to address competing priorities in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive expertise in Kubernetes, including Helm chart development and maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of Docker Compose for managing containerized applications.
  • Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure services.
  • Strong experience with monitoring and instrumentation tools such as OpenTelemetry and DataDog.
  • Proven ability to manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions.
  • Experience handling large-scale data pipelines and storage solutions, particularly for large image files or high-performance computing workloads.
  • Solid understanding of managing private artifact repositories like AWS CodeArtifact.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with distributed file systems or high-throughput storage solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with tools and frameworks for deploying AI/ML models in production.
  • Knowledge of database optimization for large datasets.
  • Experience in industries dealing with similar large-scale imaging or data-intensive environments.
  • Experience with regulated medical-device processes.
