About the position

The Senior Employee Relations Generalist at Wacker Neuson Americas plays a pivotal role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring effective communication between management and employees. This position is primarily focused on union relations, grievance resolution, collective bargaining, and training and development. The ideal candidate will leverage their positive attitude and excellent communication skills to build trust and resolve any issues that arise with dedicated employees. The role requires a proactive approach to handling challenges, whether they are minor disagreements or complex issues, with grace and fairness. In addition to being a union liaison, the Senior Employee Relations Generalist will lead the recruitment lifecycle process for Union Production employees, ensuring alignment with the recruiting strategy and managing the candidate experience. This includes serving as a dedicated HR resource for union leadership, supervisors, managers, and employees, partnering in areas such as talent selection, organizational development, and employee relations. The role also involves utilizing the Applicant Tracking System to publicize job openings and provide necessary reporting to management and union leadership. The position requires coaching and guiding leaders on performance management and corrective action, resolving employment issues, and understanding and administering labor contracts. The Senior Employee Relations Generalist will work closely with management and union leadership to improve work relationships, build morale, and enhance productivity and retention. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with HR processes and policies, recommending changes as necessary, and analyzing trends to develop solutions that add value to the business. Safety compliance is also a critical aspect of this role, requiring knowledge of OSHA regulations and active participation in safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a union liaison for employee relations, building trust and resolving issues with employees.
  • Lead the recruitment lifecycle process for Union Production employees, ensuring alignment with recruiting strategy.
  • Manage the candidate experience, ensuring integrity and enthusiasm throughout the recruitment process.
  • Act as a dedicated HR resource for union leadership, supervisors, managers, and employees in talent selection and employee relations.
  • Utilize the Applicant Tracking System to publicize job openings and provide reporting to management and union leadership.
  • Coach and guide leaders on performance management and corrective action to drive adherence to company policy.
  • Resolve employment issues, including conflict resolution and investigations, in both union and non-union environments.
  • Administer labor contracts and support contract negotiations as necessary.
  • Partner with management and union leadership to improve work relationships and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide support to management and union leadership to ensure understanding of HR processes and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with existing policies and recommend changes when necessary.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions and programs that provide value to the business.
  • Participate in safety compliance and report known accidents and unsafe practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related business program is required.
  • PHR certification is required or a desire to obtain within the first year.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist role with knowledge of human resource disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an Employee Relations Generalist position in a union manufacturing environment.
  • Meticulous demeanor with above-average detail orientation, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Above average PC skills and high proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
