About the position

The Senior Energy Consultant at Glumac, A Tetra Tech Company, will lead innovative consulting projects within the Building Science Group, focusing on sustainable design and optimization strategies. This role is crucial for guiding building owners, architects, and engineers in delivering energy consulting solutions aimed at decarbonizing large-scale developments and existing building portfolios. The consultant will contribute to energy and sustainability planning projects, formulating comprehensive plans to achieve net-zero energy and carbon neutrality goals across various scales.

Responsibilities

  • Project manage and lead energy projects including energy modeling, energy audits, retro-commissioning, electrification feasibility, and decarbonization planning.
  • Consult clients on energy efficiency, decarbonization, and resiliency strategies, providing practical technical solutions.
  • Support and mentor energy team members, providing energy model and project QAQC reviews, and improving internal project delivery workflows.
  • Stay current with industry trends, codes, and regulations related to building decarbonization and sustainability, providing technical leadership.
  • Support business development activities to expand Glumac's energy services, including proposal writing and client presentations.
  • Manage lasting client relationships and secure repeat work through high-quality project delivery.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering, Building Sciences, or related technical fields.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in sustainable building design or energy sectors.
  • Expertise in MEP systems, sustainable building design, electrified heating technologies, renewable energy and microgrid systems, and energy codes and standards.
  • Expertise with software tools like IES-VE, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, and CBECC-com.
  • Experience with data analytics, dashboarding, and programming (Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience managing energy modeling, energy audit, or retro-commissioning projects with large project teams and diverse client base.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff and providing guidance on project efforts.
  • Experience delivering building decarbonization plans for buildings, campuses, and portfolios.
  • Ability to utilize advanced data analytics and effectively communicate analysis results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications (PE, LEED AP, CEM, BEMP) are advantageous.
