About the position
The Senior Engagement Manager for AWS Professional Services focuses on State Local Government and Education sectors, responsible for understanding customer needs and ensuring successful project delivery. This role involves leading teams, managing project goals, and guiding customers through their cloud journey, leveraging AWS technologies and best practices to exceed expectations and drive cloud adoption.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers to understand their mission objectives and define project goals.
- Lead teams made up of AWS members, customer stakeholders, and potentially other vendors to execute project plans.
- Manage all phases of project lifecycle including capturing requirements, developing governance plans, and managing budgets.
- Ensure goal alignment across stakeholder groups and deliver tailored communication to various audiences.
- Apply judgment to challenge and redirect teams while managing client expectations during engagements.
- Utilize agile delivery methodology to lead project teams and manage scope, schedule, and cost.
- Act as a strategic business partner to help customers achieve their mission outcomes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of customer-facing, large scale implementation experience across multiple cross-functional teams.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level IT projects using documented methodologies such as Agile.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience implementing cloud technologies.
- Experience in managing project financials, revenue forecasts, and contracts.
Nice-to-haves
- At least two active project management certifications (e.g., APM, CSM, PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2).
- Experience managing projects with 10+ resources, 12+ months, or $500k+ in contract value.
- Experience building artifacts to support stakeholders in resolving blockers.
- Experience presenting to C-level executives and technical subject matter experts.
- Experience in consulting professional services.
