About the position

Axient is seeking a Senior Engineer/Analyst III to support customer projects in Huntsville, AL. This role involves risk analysis, test planning, and evaluation for aviation projects, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional requirements. The engineer will coordinate with various departments and lead test events, providing assessments and feedback to management.

Responsibilities

  • Complete specified tasks and responsibilities, documenting and tracking actions from various functional leads.
  • Develop risk analysis and mitigation plans for assigned test projects in technical, schedule, and cost areas.
  • Support test events associated with an Aviation Project, including travel to OEM facilities for test witnessing and report reviews.
  • Develop methodology for testing and evaluating software and hardware plans that comply with specifications and functional requirements.
  • Support the development of Test Strategy and/or Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs) and participate/lead T&E Working Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Coordinate, develop, and revise Airworthiness Flight Releases (AWRs) for the Army Project Office with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD).
  • Review program reports and disseminate to appropriate departments for formal review.
  • Review Army Aviation contractor Statement of Works (SOWs) for cost effectiveness and verification of Army airworthiness requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, oversee, and develop cost/schedule estimates for assigned test projects.
  • Prepare and present briefings to interface with technical representatives.
  • Provide written and verbal assessments to management regarding status, issues, and risk.
  • Provide feedback for contract reviews, TIMs, design reviews, and other technical meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Black Hawk helicopters and their systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Experience working with Aviation OEMs on the development of test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Experience working with Redstone Test Center or other Government agencies on test planning and execution of aircraft system and component level testing.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical rotorcraft subsystems.
  • Knowledge of MIL STDs, DoDI 5000 policies, and OSD Test and Evaluation Policies and Guidance.
  • Ability to develop and maintain Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs).

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience working with development, testing, and evaluation of aviation systems.
  • Experience in review and development of Airworthiness Flight Releases (AWRs).
  • Experience functioning and leading within a team-oriented environment.
