About the position

The Senior Engineer, Application Development and Maintenance at Cardinal Health plays a crucial role in overseeing the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This position is integral to the Information Technology department, which anticipates, plans, and delivers IT solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value. The Application Development & Maintenance team is responsible for configuring or coding to develop, enhance, and sustain the organization's software systems. This is achieved in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. The role involves programming and configuring end-user applications, systems, databases, and websites to meet both internal needs and externally-facing business requirements. The team collaborates with business leaders to investigate user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance, and enhancements of existing applications. As a Senior Engineer, you will act as a Solution Owner, managing project funding, scope, and deliverables while working closely with the Cardinal Health Project Management Office. You will build and manage relationships with Medical business leaders in operations, distribution, and other user groups, ensuring seamless collaboration with project managers, vendors, and business leads. Understanding product development business requirements is essential, as you will work to achieve scalable solutions across various software platforms. You will provide technical guidance and lead medium to high effort enhancement/build projects, collaborating with software teams and acting as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) or liaison. Your responsibilities will also include partnering with EIT shared services teams to identify, plan, and execute Proofs of Concept (POCs) and projects, as well as creating, planning, and executing T-Minus plans in collaboration with all interface and shared services teams. You will work closely with the DevSecOps team and managed services partners to implement DevSecOps practices, ensuring that the 3PL and Strategic Stock Solution application suite is user-friendly, resilient, and simple for partners. Additionally, you will manage the development and implementation of the Labor Management System (LMS) application suite, balancing project priorities and meeting expectations on scope, quality, schedule, and budget. As a technical lead and mentor, you will provide skill uplift to junior team members and ensure hyper care support and build-to-run transition documentation for implemented projects.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Solution Owner responsible to manage project funding, scope, and deliverables by working closely with Cardinal Health Project Management Office.
  • Manage relationships with the Medical business leaders in operations, distribution, and other user groups.
  • Build relationships and work seamlessly with project managers, vendors, and business leads.
  • Understand product development business requirements and work to achieve scalable solutions in various software platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance and lead medium to high effort enhancement/build projects.
  • Collaborate with software teams like EDI, TPM, and 3PL customers, acting as a technical SME/liaison.
  • Partner with EIT shared services teams to identify, plan, and execute POCs and projects.
  • Create, plan, and execute T-Minus plans by collaborating with all interface and shared services teams.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps team and managed services partners on implementing DevSecOps practices.
  • Responsible for 3PL and Strategic Stock Solution application suite journey towards making it user-friendly, resilient, and simple for 3PL partners.
  • Manage LMS application suite development and implementation.
  • Manage priorities between projects, meeting project aligned expectations on scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Act as technical lead/mentor on the team to provide skill uplift to junior team members.
  • Provide hyper care support and build to run transition, lessons learnt documentation for the projects implemented.

Requirements

  • 8-12 years of experience in a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to define work processes and lead team members in successful implementation and ongoing execution.
  • Proven experience managing large cross-functional IT projects.
  • Strong understanding and experience with data analysis using Excel or other tools.
  • Understanding business & IT requirements and translating them into actionable work, driving automation of the work.
  • Background in IT technologies and concepts including networks, databases, middleware, interfaces, and applications.
  • Experience in leading SaaS integration projects.
  • Experience in integration architecture and patterns including integration via APIs/google pub/sub.
  • Integration experience with Manhattan WMS/LMS system.
  • Medical Warehouse experience or an IT project management background.
  • Previous Warehouse Management System experience.
  • SAP ERP experience.
  • AIMS (Automated Inventory Management System) experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently verbally and in writing with IT personnel, consultants, and other company personnel.
