About the position

The Sr. Engineer - Chemical Process Project Support Engineer at Ball Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the Beverage Packaging North & Central America (BPNCA) Chemical Process Engineering team. This position focuses on identifying and implementing best practices in chemical processes, achieving divisional goals related to Key Process Indicators (KPIs), and executing improvements in chemical process applications within can-making operations. The role emphasizes efficiency gains, optimization of various chemical systems, and sustainability practices, while also providing training and support to plant employees.

Responsibilities

  • Support the BPNCA Chemical Process Engineering team in identifying and implementing chemical process best practices.
  • Achieve divisional goals related to Chemical Process Engineering Key Process Indicators (KPIs).
  • Focus on executing improvements in chemical process applications in can-making operations.
  • Create, understand, and implement Global Standards for chemical process support.
  • Utilize external industrial applications and personal technical experience to identify and roll out Global Standards for chemical process optimization.
  • Train BPNCA plant employees on best practices for chemical process systems.
  • Aid in succession planning by training junior engineers on chemical process equipment operation and design.
  • Identify key performance indicators for chemical processes and develop standard plans to track data.
  • Develop, plan, and execute capital projects supporting chemical process standards.
  • Collaborate with supply base to identify new chemical process technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of job-related experience in packaging manufacturing.
  • Broad training in a related field, usually acquired through college-level education or work experience.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Knowledge of contracts and specifications.
  • Experience with program/project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Financial literacy and business acumen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers, Ovens, Gas Trains, Boilers, Hot Water Heaters, and Heat Recovery Systems.
  • Specialist in mechanical and thermal subjects of machine design.
