United's CDR team is tasked with keeping our customers' and employees' information safe and secure. Our primary mission is to embed cybersecurity into the DNA of United Airlines by reducing business risk through implementation of strong cybersecurity practices. The Privacy Tech Senior Engineer's primary responsibility is to implement the proper security infrastructure and technological integrations to enable the needs of both Cybersecurity and its internal business partners. They would make sure such infrastructure is secure by design as well as launching new tools and software for automating compliance within the scope of United's cybersecurity policies. As an engineer, you will work with Digital Technology, UA business teams (marketing, advertising, etc.), and other Cybersecurity partners. The Engineer will be focused on implementing and ongoing maintenance of our evolving cookie, consent, and data privacy systems and external software which is aimed at protecting customer data and reducing risk in compliance with external legal and regulatory guidelines. This engineer will work closely with other development teams and consumers of these services. They will serve as key contacts within Cybersecurity responsible for the integration and upkeep as well as support the Product owner as part of development lifecycle. This Senior Engineer requires a deep understanding of privacy and responsible AI principles, protocols, and standard methodologies. This is senior-level position that is able to implement designs provided by Cybersecurity architects and ensures these capabilities are adopted and successfully integrated with systems across the organization while providing ongoing support and maintenance for Cybersecurity processes and technology. Implementation and administration of privacy centric APIs within our key systems and platforms including developing and integrating Cybersecurity software with other parts of the business in conjunction with the product development lifecycle, including new feature requests. Respond to break/fix requests, monitor environment, support Digital Technology in any organisational change process for development, QA, and production environments. Respond to tickets including bugs and outages. Ensure Cybersecurity implementations and integrations adhere to regulatory, compliance, and internal requirements and is aligned to overall CDR strategy. Maintain Cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures. Provide reports as requested for compliance. Work with internal partners to evaluate potential compliance areas to identify gaps and ensure full compliance with data protection & privacy regulations. Collaborate with development teams, both inside and outside of Cybersecurity. Provide guidance on the implementation and usage of Cybersecurity capabilities in enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security
  • Knowledge of security engineering and architecture concepts
  • Skill in navigating complex system architecture across multiple development teams
  • Expertise in modern software lifecycle development and automated cloud infrastructure deployment
  • Understanding of policies that reflect Cybersecurity objectives
  • Skill in communicating with all levels of management
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic environment to deadlines
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Even higher educational degree in STEM, Cybersecurity, Computer science, Risk Management
  • CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIPP, CIPT
  • 6+ years of STEM related experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cybersecurity vendors, tools, and products capabilities
  • Experience with Securiti, OneTrust, Big Idea, Ping
  • Knowledge of organizational standards and policies (ISO, NIST)
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations (SOX, PCI, FAA, GDPR, PII)
