About the position

GEICO is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime data analytics solutions. This role is pivotal in driving the transformation of the insurance business as the company transitions to a tech organization focused on engineering excellence. The Senior Engineer will work within the Data Analytics Center of Excellence to develop advanced data models and reports, handling vast datasets while promoting innovation and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Utilize programming languages like SQL, dbt, and Python to transform and report on large volumes of enterprise data.
• Produce high quality, accurate data and reports with visualizations to empower business decisions.
• Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the model and report development lifecycle.
• Manage deployment pipelines to ensure consistent data availability.
• Mentor other engineers and share best practices to improve processes.

Requirements

• Advanced experience with Data Warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Demonstrable knowledge of ETL/ELT tools (strong preference for dbt).
• Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI and Apache Superset preferred).
• Experience architecting and designing new ETL and BI systems.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python.
• Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools.
• Knowledge of developer tooling across the analytics development life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate).
• Experience with Claims, Product, Sales, Service, Customer, Associate, Billing, Agency or Telematics data.
