About the position

The Senior Engineer at GEICO plays a crucial role in the engineering team, focusing on delivering high-quality technology products and services while ensuring customer satisfaction and system reliability. This position requires a blend of technical expertise across various domains, including front-end and back-end systems, and emphasizes collaboration and mentorship within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems
• Build product definition and leverage technical skills to drive towards the right solution
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle
• Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization
• Define, create and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective
• Utilize programming languages like Python, C#, SQL, and NoSQL databases, as well as Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes
• Mentor other engineers
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in software development, programming languages, and database infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience with architecture and design
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 2+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
• Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts including Azure DevOps framework and tools
• Ability to configure and resolve issues related to SQL Server AlwaysOn Availability Groups and SQL Server Failover Cluster Instance

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft Visio, Azure IAAS Virtual Machines, Commvault SQL Backup and Azure Cloud Architecture
• Experience with IDERA SQLDM, ICAT, RMDA, IFMS, DBMON, Shavlik and AZ Copy
• Experience with Password and Credential Management Tools ERPM and KeePass
• Experience with SAR System, DevOps Catalog, and Remedy Ticketing system
