The Senior Engineer - Design Transmission/Civil position at NV Energy involves providing comprehensive civil and structural engineering design services for substation and transmission facilities. The primary goal is to ensure that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within the allocated resources. This role requires a strong foundation in civil engineering principles, particularly in the context of utility settings, and involves a variety of responsibilities that include developing civil plans for sitework, conducting engineering analyses, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for creating substation and transmission line designs, which includes site development, grading, drainage, and the design of steel structures and foundations. The engineer will also be tasked with acquiring necessary construction approvals and permits, as well as providing mentoring and leadership to junior staff. The position requires independent scoping and routing of projects, evaluating alternatives to find the best value, and providing accurate cost estimates and schedule inputs for budgeting purposes. Additionally, the engineer will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success and will be expected to perform related duties as assigned. The work environment is primarily office-based, but may require travel to remote parts of Nevada for site assessments, which may involve walking over rugged terrain at high elevations.
