About the position

The Senior Document & Risk Systems Engineer at White & Case is a pivotal role responsible for the management and technical ownership of the configuration, deployment, management, and administration of Document Management Systems (DMS) and Risk systems. This includes overseeing custom in-house applications and services, both on-premises and in the Cloud. The position requires a strong technical leader who will support the implementation and upgrades of these applications and their related environments and servers. In this role, the engineer will be tasked with the installation and management of both MS-Windows and Linux-based application, web, and database servers. This includes providing third-level support for critical third-party and custom enterprise systems, primarily focusing on DMS and Risk systems, whether they are hosted on-premises or as Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions. The engineer will also be responsible for implementing applications to Database Management Systems (DBMS) such as MS-SQL Server and Linux. A key aspect of this position is to help develop, enhance, and enforce firm standards and policies related to software management and deployment. The engineer will coordinate maintenance tasks to ensure application availability and optimization, ensuring data integrity and availability through the implementation of security, backup, and recovery plans. The role requires interfacing with legal and administrative staff to understand business needs and oversee the deployment of solutions while providing technical leadership. The engineer will also be responsible for maintaining vendor relations, developing multi-year roadmaps for critical applications, and enhancing technical skills through ongoing training and education in new server-side technologies and environments. This hybrid role is based in the Tampa office and reports to the Manager of Document and Risk Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, management, and technical ownership of MS-Windows and Linux-based application/web/database servers.
  • Implementation and third-level support for critical third-party and custom enterprise systems, primarily DMS and Risk systems.
  • Implementation of applications to DBMS servers (MS-SQL Server, Linux, etc.).
  • Develop, enhance, and enforce firm standards and policies related to software management and deployment.
  • Coordinate scheduling of maintenance tasks to ensure application availability and optimization.
  • Ensure data integrity and availability through implementation of security, backup, and recovery plans and controls.
  • Interface with legal and administrative staff to understand business needs and oversee deployment of solutions.
  • Assure a clear planning process is followed, including a well-defined scope of deliverables and continuous communication to manage client expectations.
  • Proactively report project risks and deliverable issues to superiors and clients for immediate mitigation or resolution.
  • Maintain and assist with vendor relations.
  • Work with business teams to develop and direct multi-year roadmaps of critical applications.
  • Enhance technical skills through training, seminars, and education in new server-side technologies and environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Graduate degree is advantageous.
  • Strong hands-on experience in administration of MS-Windows and Linux application servers (App/Web and Database servers).
  • Experience with application architecture including cloud applications and integrations; in hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.
  • Experience in writing PowerShell scripts for app/system deployment and administration tasks.
  • Experience deploying and utilizing APIs, including web services (REST) and RPC protocol.
  • Experience with application/server/performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience with website management (IIS & Apache).
  • Experience with performance monitoring, database optimization, and index utilization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to facilitate work efforts.
  • Ability to work productively with a wide range of people and effectively present information to customers and senior management.
  • Ability to manage project commitments to ensure that the project comes in on time and within budget.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with iManage (Cloud and on-prem).
  • Familiarity with Intapp Walls, Intapp Open, Intapp Activity Tracker.
  • Experience with DBMSs and SSRS.
  • Knowledge of integration platforms like Boomi and Integration Builder.
  • Experience with enterprise scheduler and API tools such as Python, Postman, R.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/auditing tools like Solar Winds, SQL Sentry, Splunk, CyberArk.
