About the position

The Senior Engineer - Electrical role at Wesco involves providing technical leadership and support for complex product designs and retrofits, collaborating with various engineering teams, and driving demand for application solutions. This position requires a strong background in electrical engineering and project management, with a focus on new product development and technical sales support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support for the most complex new product designs, legacy product retrofits and upgrades
  • Collaborate regularly with design, electrical, mechanical, automation, electronic engineers to design, recommend and execute appropriate technology solutions
  • Collaborate with supplier engineering/technical resources to educate, train, specify, and create demand for application solutions
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on supplier, industry, and client emerging technologies and trends
  • Lead technical application training for assigned Wesco sales team when necessary
  • Provide technical support and expertise for assigned Wesco sales team(s)
  • Work with sales organization and other Wesco specialized support teams to identify, sell and integrate Wesco value-add solutions
  • Provide post-sales engineering and technical support when applicable

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Technology, Automation, Robotics or related field or equivalent education or work experience required
  • Master Degree in Engineering or related technology field preferred
  • 5 years of Electrical, Automation, Mechanical or Electronic design, application and/or technical sales experience required; 7 years preferred
  • Experience of leadership responsibility managing project teams and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders
  • Proven track record in project management
  • Excellent coordination skills with attention to detail and ability to effectively manage projects
  • Strong project management / time management skills
  • Strong product knowledge and application knowledge
  • PLC and HMI programming skills
  • Panel design and layout
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar software
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and technical skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in technical sales
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies in the electrical engineering field
