The Senior Engineer - Electrical position involves planning and conducting work that requires independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. The role is crucial for successfully completing medium to large engineering projects by organizing and controlling various project elements. The Senior Engineer will work closely with a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer for technical review and guidance, ensuring that all engineering solutions are aligned with project scopes and client expectations. In this role, the engineer will develop and evaluate system concepts and options to determine the best design and engineering solutions for each project. This includes creating design drawings and specifications for electrical systems, such as building electrical, lighting, and fire alarm systems. The engineer will be responsible for preparing all necessary engineering calculations, equipment selection, and layout throughout the life of the project. Additionally, the Senior Engineer will lead and coordinate efforts with engineers, designers, AutoCAD technicians, and clerical staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams. The position requires interfacing with clients to discuss changes to designs and specifications, performing systems analysis, and preparing reports and studies, including cost estimates. The Senior Engineer will also be directly responsible for the distribution of all approved drawings and specifications and will coordinate with other design team members, including architects and mechanical and structural engineers, to ensure that electrical systems are integrated with all trades. The role involves working as a team member with the construction team, project manager, and fabrication and installation crews, attending design team meetings as required, and managing the design manpower budget in collaboration with leadership. Furthermore, the Senior Engineer will represent the company professionally in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals, and contractors. The role includes assisting in the firm's human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members, enhancing the firm's reputation by taking ownership of internal and external client requests, and demonstrating core values as a role model and mentor to all firm members.
