About the position
The Senior Engineer - Equipment Design Expert at Sealed Air is responsible for supporting the Innovation & Development mission by developing and delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective product solutions. This role involves the conception, design, fabrication, and commissioning of lab scale and production process equipment, while collaborating with diverse teams across multiple international locations.
Responsibilities
- Generate and document all elements of the equipment design packages.
- Leverage knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial controls to develop high throughput, high quality, and efficient process equipment.
- Identify and evaluate latest technologies to improve yield, increase throughput, and reduce cost.
- Work with I&D and business leaders to identify key technology gaps and opportunities; execute a strategy to develop technologies and commercialize.
- Effectively lead projects, ensuring the right technical resources are utilized and projects are completed on time.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships in industry and academia regarding new technologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and maintain competitiveness.
- Maintain a safe and incident-free working environment.
- Work independently and/or within a team to develop project scope, budget, and timelines.
Requirements
- B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related degree.
- 5+ years of experience with manufacturing equipment design.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Experience with extrusion technologies, high speed automation, or web handling is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of 3D design skills including experience with SolidWorks, Matlab, FEA / CFD Simulation.
- Proficient machine design skills using both 3D and 2D platforms.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to influence company and business strategy and decisions.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
